The Nancy Intagliata Legacy Award

Every spring ALN honors educators with The Nancy Intagliata Legacy Award with a cash gift of $2500. Since 2018, we have given over 50 awards to deserving teachers and staff members. Please see Award Winners to learn more about some of these amazing individuals. We love hearing stories as to how these teachers use their award money in such creative and generous ways. Several teachers have used the money to create chemotherapy baskets to deliver to hospitals. One teacher used the money to buy wigs for herself she could not previously afford. Another, who lost her father to cancer, took her mother on a dream vacation. Many recipients used the money to pay down medical bills. Another teacher used the award money to create a book writing contest at her school and threw a party for the contest participants.

Teachers Currently in Treatment

A Legacy for Nancy is proud to be able to support teachers currently in cancer treatment with urgent and specific needs, including gas money, gift cards, and comfort gifts.
ALN makes this support in honor of Lindsay Lumpkin, a teacher and champion of this Foundation since its inception.

Other Support & Amazon Wish Lists

In addition to the award money, ALN has been able to support teachers and schools in other ways including a book vending machine in honor of a student who was diagnosed with cancer, a sewing machine for a teacher to make seatbelt covers for mastectomy patients, as well as fulfilling classroom Amazon wish lists.
